My cat died suddenly May last year. we had a very special bond, my daughter @Nicola has autism and is still devastated. It's almost 11 months now since we lost him and we can't seem to get over it and try to move on. I want one but Nicola keeps saying she feels like Milo is being replaced.

First of all, Im sorry for your loss @Catsmother @Nicola,

When I lost my black cat Sam three years ago. I felt the same way. My heart was broken for losing him but I wanted another black cat. I still do. Even though the love in my heart still remains for Sam and will never leave, I will always make room for another cat in the future. Loving other cats wont replace the memory of Sam in my heart. The love will go and on. Love never dies.

That totally makes sense but Nicola loved the bones of Milo, he followed her everywhere even to bed. I think this is the longest we have gone without a pet  :classic_sad:

Hopefully when she is ready, she will agree to have another cat. ..to move forward. I say move forward instead of move on because no matter what your loss us, you will always grieve til the day you die.

Things will always set me crying...a memory, a photograph, a song, etc. You dont move on. You move forward. Hopefully time will make it hurt less.
