Mackenzie rushes to Levi when he needs to talk. He lays out his concerns – he doesn't know where their relationship is headed if there's no trust between them. She points out that he did lie to her about talking to his ex-wife, but he insists that he was trying to protect her.
Mackenzie vents to Xander later that Levi thinks she'll never be able to trust him. When she sees him tending to an attractive female patient later on, she's clearly irked. At home that night, she toys with Imogen's wedding ring, deep in thought over her relationship. Can Mackenzie trust her partner?
Meanwhile, Harper agrees to let Marilyn give her a tarot reading. Roo stands by to provide a running commentary. The cards are drawn and Marilyn predicts a connection – perhaps a romance, a budding friendship, or sisterly bond.
Harper is interrupted by a call from Dana, but she also very much has Tane on her mind. What does the future hold for Harper?
Elsewhere, John and Dana finally manage to wrench the mysterious shipping container open. Both recoil at the smell – it appears to be filled with potting mix. Later though, they return to the site on patrol and John suddenly faints. He's brought into emergency, where upon learning of their exposure to the unverified substance, Bree orders full infectious protocol be followed – they could be dealing with a contaminant.
John and Dana go straight into isolation. Bree is left to puzzle over what's wrong with John and what's causing it.
At the Diner later, Roo and Marilyn are discussing the ongoing investigation into the contents of the shipping container, and Marilyn mentions she's feeling a bit funny. Suddenly, a customer lurches forward and vomits. When she goes to help, Marilyn herself is overcome by dizziness and clutches her head in pain. What is the mystery illness gripping Summer Bay?

Felicity is concerned when Cash reveals that he's not going to Stevie's funeral. She soon loops Eden in – they both know he has to go. Cash admits that it feels wrong for him to attend, wondering how can he face her family when it was because of him that she ended up in a coffin.
Eden thinks that Remi can allay some of Cash's guilt, especially after the security company exonerates him of any blame. When Remi gets there, though, Cash is being haunted by vivid flashbacks of Stevie's death and he's not happy to see his friend. Can they repair and grieve Stevie together?
Meanwhile, at the gym, Theo presses Remi on his feelings surrounding Stevie and Bree. Remi admits that Bree is keen to get back together. However, he explains that Bree made a lot of good points about the reasons for their break-up and he doesn't want to make the same mistakes again.
Remi reveals that Bree said she's prepared to wait. Theo is quick to point out that's not a guarantee.
Elsewhere, John and Dana are still in isolation. Both regret opening the mysterious shipping container, with John showing no signs of improvement. Soon, Roo wheels Marilyn into the hospital with similar symptoms, and quickly confirms for Bree that she was nowhere near the shipping container.
Bree grills her for more information on who has been in the Diner and the timings, as the container may not be the source of the mystery ailment. When another patient arrives at the hospital with stomach pains, they are linked to the Diner as well and Bree has pieced it together – the Diner is the source of the contamination.
Irene is frantic as she shuts down the Diner and sends her customers home, while Bree tells Dana she's free to leave the hospital – she was never exposed to the contaminant. Looking over at an ailing John, though, Dana decides she won't leave her friend – she'll chuck on a uniform and stick around. John really appreciates it.

Iluka works out on the beach and Kirby enjoys the view. However, she admits to Rose that there's not much to tell in regard to their relationship. Later, Iluka offers to help Kirby run a lesson and confesses his motive is to spend more time with her. Kirby's playful and warns him that she's not a cheap date.
Finally, Iluka invites Kirby to go and see a band, joking about how she's been keen for the offer of a date. She calls out his confidence but can't help but smile as she agrees to the night out.
Rose wants assurance from Mali that he has told Iluka that she's a cop. Mali admits that he hasn't, but he's working on it. Rose hints that he'd better hurry up, otherwise Iluka will get a rude shock when he sees her in uniform tomorrow.
At home, Iluka fills Rose in on his NRL ambitions. She's impressed, but Mali is nervous for his brother, reminding him about his bad knee and his age. Later, Mali's uneasy when he hears Iluka questioning Theo over his work at the garage. Does he think his brother is up to something?
When Justin's car is stolen from the Surf Club car park that afternoon, Mali is definitely suspicious and he even accuses Iluka. Iluka's not happy to be accused and tells his brother to go to hell.
Leah interrupts Justin reporting the crime to reveal that she took the car. Mali apologises when he realises the mistake, but he still doesn't believe that Iluka has his own money. When Iluka presents $8,000 in cash though, Mali's suspicions peak – what has Iluka done?
Meanwhile, Remi appeals to Cash – he said things that shouldn't have been said, and he wants to apologise. Cash isn't in the mood and he still blames himself for leaving Stevie's side on the day she died.
Finally, Cash agrees to a drink, but when Remi suggests he talk to someone about his grief, he bails – he hopes tomorrow goes well, though. The next morning, Remi makes a final attempt to convince Cash to go with him. He points out that Stevie deserves for her life to be celebrated. Just before he's due to leave, Cash turns up in a suit. He does want to go after all.

The truth is out over Iluka's newfound wealth – he "borrowed" $8,000 from the Allens to fund his NRL trial in Queensland and they're not happy about it. Mali is furious that he would put his housemates in danger by turning up there, but Iluka insists they don't have to know about it. Mali knows something he doesn't, though – revealing that his girlfriend Rose is a cop.
When Iluka grabs a drink with Kirby later, she tells him that she doesn't think he's being fair on Mali. Iluka abruptly leaves, declaring the date to be over. When they debrief later, Rose reckons Mali must have told his brother that she's a cop and Iluka is reacting to that. She teases Kirby about how it's clear she really likes Iluka.
Mali and Iluka face off. Mali tells his older brother that his footy dreams are the reason for every mistake he's made and he needs to give up on them. Iluka can't be told and promises Mali will eat his words. He storms off.
A confused Rose wants to know what's happened and whether it's about her. Mali is tight-lipped though, only telling Rose that he'll sort it. He tracks down Iluka, promising him that he said nothing to Rose and he won't. The two brothers reconcile and they agree to get through this together, but have they bitten off more than they can chew?
Meanwhile, Irene has stayed at a motel overnight to avoid infecting a "compromised" Bronte, who is under pressure to accelerate her long con. She speaks to her accomplice on the phone, explaining that she can't move too quickly in case it spooks Irene.
Bronte is soon able to work that expensive medical trial into the conversation. Irene promises they'll get her to Canada somehow. When Xander visits, he offers to put Bronte in touch with Bree – she's a doctor and she could have a look into the trial for them. Fearing her lies being exposed, Bronte quickly declines and excuses herself.
Not long after, Xander's back to pitch a crowdfunding campaign and Bronte is cautiously intrigued. Soon, they're recording a video chronicling Bronte's "story" for the crowdfunder, but she skilfully forces a collapse. Irene comes home to the sight of her lodger on the ground and takes her into her arms. Appearing emotional, Bronte declares that she's not ready to die.
Friday
Harper is concerned to hear that Bronte hasn't been to hospital since her collapse, but she brushes it off and lies that it's all part of the illness. When the fraudster shows her the attempted crowdfunding video, Harper's moved to the point that she offers to reshoot it. She offers that she'll speak on Bronte's behalf, since she's so self-conscious. It's music to Bronte's ears, and soon the crowdfunder is live, with Irene making the first donation of $1,000.
Irene and Leah fret that business is woeful at the Diner since news of the contamination broke. Justin wants to help and soon he and Theo have a plan. By lunchtime, they've put the word out on social media and the Diner is pumping.
Leah's grateful and she wants to pay it forward, so she suggests to Justin that they should donate to Bronte's campaign as well. At the same time, Mackenzie tells Felicity she wants to donate on behalf of Salt. Bronte's delighted as she watches the money roll in. It seems her earning potential in Summer Bay is well beyond just fleecing Irene.
Meanwhile, Levi has noticed that Mackenzie's not herself and he wants answers. When she finally admits her jealousy after seeing him with a patient, he doesn't know how to respond and walks away. When they do come together again, he's clear – he can't spend the rest of his life being tested by her.
Mackenzie tells Levi that meeting Bronte today has made her realise how grateful she is, and Levi promises never to hurt her. She's prepared to take the risk it seems, as he draws her into a kiss.
Elsewhere, Felicity is aware of Eden's mounting financial problems and is happy to offer her some shifts at Salt, even while she's avoiding Mackenzie. Felicity promises they can balance the rosters so that she'll never have to face her brother's mistress.
Eden says she'll think about it, but by the end of the day, she has turned on Felicity. She saw Felicity hugging Mackenzie earlier, and she thought their friendship was more important than that. Will Eden really let her feud with Mackenzie come between her and her best mate?
Mackenzie rushes to Levi when he needs to talk. He lays out his concerns – he doesn't know where their relationship is headed if there's no trust between them. She points out that he did lie to her about talking to his ex-wife, but he insists that he was trying to protect her.
